On 12 December 1984, the Sowetan published an article about Imiloji Kantu, the choir that aroused an interest of choral music from Portia Qubeka. This is an award-winning choir in many Choral Music Competitions and has travelled with Portia Extensively.
On 25 May 2000 the Sowetan Newspaper published an article about Portia Qubeka and her Classical and Choral music show on Voice of Soweto where she used to be a producer and presenter of that show. She was also a Programmes Manager at the Voice of Soweto for 4 years.
Portia Qubeka has been running Youth and Culture Programmes in Ekurhuleni Schools for the past 6 years under the auspices of the Department of Education.
